Qatar Long-Term Rating Lowered To ‘AA-‘; On Watch Negative (S&P)
On June 7, 2017, S&P Global Ratings lowered its long-term rating on Qatar to ‘AA-‘ from ‘AA’ and placed the rating on Credit Watch with negative implications. S&P believes the current diplomatic isolation moves will exacerbate Qatar’s external vulnerabilities and could put pressure on economic growth and fiscal metrics.
On May 26, Moody’s Investors Service downgraded Qatar’s long-term issuer and senior unsecured debt ratings to Aa3 from Aa2 and changed the outlook to stable from negative.
